Holding Technique is systematic and very complex with all kinds of postures and ways. So it’s hard to master. The points that the Holding Technique attacks are man’s joints, head, neck and other vital points, taking advantage of the weakness and limitation of joints moving actions, using the skill of anti-joint and overdoing the joint movement according to the principle of lever and mechanics in order to hold the opponent. The following are some ways of Taiji Twining showing how to use the above theories and skills to hold the opponent.

A. Twine the Elbow and Catch the Throat

When the opponent moves his right foot forward, uses his right hand to hit your head from the lower upward, you can quickly avoid it and lower your body, put the weight point on the right leg, and quickly move the right foot to the back of his bending leg, move the body forward, use the left hand to twine his right hand at the point of his elbow, and make a little circle from the inside to the outside, try to force him strait his arm with his elbow facing the ground. Then, you can use your elbow and rib part to hold his hand tightly, use your right hand to catch his throat and press down. Your two hands must be powerful and cooperate together. Then, you can use your elbow to hit or wrestle him down. The left posture is similar to the above, only changing the right to the left.

B. Hold the Neck and Hit the Elbow

D. Hold the Hand and Bend his Knee

E. Catch the Arm and Throw over the Shoulder

H. Hook the Leg and hit

When the opponent steps his left foot and use the left hand to push your arm powerfully, you can turn your waist, change your posture to bend your left leg, catch his right wrist with your left hand from under your right hand and twine it. Meanwhile, use your right foot to hook his leg, turn your right fist up to hit his fingertips on his right hand. If your hit failure, you can take the chance to hit his face or chest. At the same time, turn your foot to hook his leg. Your hooking and your hitting must be cooperated closely. You will be a winner.

I. Turn the Wrist and Cut down

If your hand is held by the opponent’s hand, you can turn your hand, according to his holding strength, to control his hand, don’t let it go. The tips of your hand caught by him can make a circle.
